New owners

Owning a cat for the first time is a very exciting time, but you might be a bit overwhelmed and unsure about what exactly you need. Please see the checklists below for what you will need, what would be nice to have and some helpful questions to ask.

What you need to buy checklist:

• Food and water dishes;
• Healthy food (many cats like having both wet and dry food);
• Brush and comb;
• Nail clippers;
• Litter box;
• Litter box scooper;
• Kitty litter;
• Some toys (not real fur);
• Treats;
• Lots of love to give.
  

Some additional things:

• Scratching post;
• A placemat for under dishes;
• A cat bed;
• Hairball remedy (helpful);
• Tartar control treats.
  

Before bringing your cat home, here are some questions to ask:

• Does my cat have medical records?
• Has my cat been vaccinated recently?
• What type of food is my cat eatting?
• Do you know how my cat interacts with other cats?
